 The TNPSC Group 1 and Group 1A exams are prestigious exams conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) to recruit candidates for various administrative and executive positions in the Tamil Nadu state government. TNPSC Group 1 Exam

Posts Under Group 1:

Ø  Deputy Collector

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or its equivalent.

Ø  General: 21 to 32 years

Ø  SC/ST, SC (A), ST, MBC/DC, BC, BCM: 21 to 35 years

Ø  Ex-Servicemen: 21 to 53 years

  • Nationality: Indian

Exam Structure: The Group 1 Exam consists of three stages:

Ø  Preliminary Examination (Objective type)

Ø  Main Examination (Descriptive type)

Ø  Interview (Oral Test)

Preliminary Examination:

Ø  The TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Exam is an objective type exam consisting of 2 papers.

§  General Studies: 150 questions (300 marks)

§  Aptitude and Mental Ability: 50 questions (100 marks)

Ø  Duration: 3 hours

Ø  Total Marks: 400

Main Examination:

Ø  This consists of 3 papers.

§  Paper 1: General Studies (Descriptive) - 250 marks

§  Paper 2: General Studies (Descriptive) - 250 marks

§  Paper 3: Tamil or any Indian Language (Descriptive) - 150 marks

Ø  Total Marks for Main Examination: 650 marks

Interview:

  • The Interview carries 120 marks.

TNPSC Group 1A Exam

Posts Under Group 1A: The Group 1A exam is typically for posts within the Tamil Nadu State Government departments, including specific services like:

Ø  Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Taxes)

Ø  Revenue Divisional Officer

Ø  District Registrar

Ø  Assistant Director (Finance)

The Group 1A exam often involves different roles with similar or additional specializations compared to Group 1.

Common Eligibility Criteria:

Ø  Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or its equivalent.
