As of February 20, 2025, Rekha Gupta has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Delhi, succeeding Atishi Marlena.
Rekha Gupta
Rekha Gupta, born on July 19, 1974,
in Julana, Haryana, is a seasoned politician affiliated with the Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP). She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Delhi University and
a Bachelor of Laws from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. Her
political journey began with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, leading to
her election as President of the Delhi University Students' Union in 1996.
Gupta has served as a three-time councillor and former mayor of the South Delhi
Municipal Corporation. In the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, she won
the Shalimar Bagh constituency, defeating AAP's Bandana Kumari. On February 19,
2025, she was elected as the Leader of the BJP Legislative Party in Delhi and
subsequently appointed as the Chief Minister on February 20, 2025.
Atishi Marlena
Atishi Marlena, born on June 8,
1981, in New Delhi, is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She holds degrees
from Delhi University and Magdalen College, Oxford. Her political career
includes serving as an advisor to former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia
and as a Cabinet Minister overseeing Education, Women and Child Welfare,
Culture, Tourism, and Public Works Departments. On September 21, 2024, she succeeded
Arvind Kejriwal as the Chief Minister of Delhi, becoming the youngest and third
female to hold the position. Despite AAP's loss in the 2025 Delhi Legislative
Assembly elections, she retained her seat in the Kalkaji constituency.
