India signs US-led Pax Silica
Declaration on last day of Global AI Impact Summit :

Today is the last day of the AI Impact Summit hosted by India. India
officially signed the Pax Silica Declaration at the Global AI Impact Summit in
New Delhi on Friday, 20.02.2026. The agreement was signed by US Ambassador to
India Sergio Gore, US Under Secretary for Economic Development and Energy, and
Union Minister for Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav. Earlier, Gore
underlined India's commitment and the scope of the growing cooperation between
the two countries. Welcoming India to the Pax Silica initiative, he said that
by entering into this partnership, both countries have chosen a path of shared
progress and success.
“We welcome India’s engagement. Will
a future free society, a society without silicon, control the global economy’s
top spot?” U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic Development, Energy,
and Environment Jacob Helberg welcomed India’s joining the Pax Silica
Declaration, which highlights the critical link between economic security and
national security and reflects a collective stance against coercion and
intimidation that threaten nations’ prosperity. On the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit, India formally joined
Pax Silica, a U.S.-led initiative focused on artificial intelligence and supply
chain security. Pax Silica is a flagship initiative of the U.S. Department of
State that aims to strengthen cooperation on artificial intelligence and supply
chain security, fostering a renewed consensus on economic security among allies
and trusted partners.
The Pax Silica Declaration
recognizes artificial intelligence as a transformative driver for long-term
growth and prosperity, while also providing a platform for shared economic
security. Emphasizes the critical importance of resilient and reliable supply
chains.
At the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, venture
capitalist Bejul Somaiya called for a shift in the way India assesses its
artificial intelligence ambitions, arguing that the path is more important than
the current limitations. Speaking at the summit, Somaiya said conversations
about India and AI tend to gravitate towards infrastructure gaps — limited
access to computing, inconsistent data quality, and the complexity of serving a
linguistically diverse population. He acknowledged that these are real challenges.

French President Emmanuel Macron, Spanish President
Pedro Sanchez and Google CEO Sundar Pichai are among the key delegates who will
attend the AI Impact Summit hosted by India in Delhi on Wednesday.

India-France Year of Innovation
launched:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Macron
launched the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 at the Gateway of India. Speaking at the India-France Innovation
Forum, Macron said the question is not whether India is innovating anymore, but
who will innovate with India. He announced that France wants to be that
partner, and that an Innovation Day will be celebrated before the G7, bringing
together Franco-Indian initiatives and students and researchers. Macron added
that France wants to be a reliable partner to offer unique collaborations
between the two countries' industries.

The exhibition will also feature pavilions from 13 countries showcasing international cooperation in AI systems. It includes pavilions from Australia, Japan, Russia, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Estonia, Tajikistan and Africa. The exhibition will feature more than 300 special exhibition halls, which have been organized around three key themes: 'People, Planet and Prosperity.

In
his inaugural address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the objective of “AI for
All” and said that Indian youth should lead the world in the field of AI. He
announced plans to expand the use of AI in the fields of education, health,

10,000 police, anti-drone organisation:
More
than 10,000 police personnel have been deployed across the city. Anti-drone systems
have been installed around the site and a robust air defence system capable of detecting,
monitoring and neutralising any drone instantly has been put in place. More than
500 CCTV cameras have been installed and security has been strengthened
Arrival of World Leaders :
Leaders
of 20 countries are coming at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The
Indian AI Impact Summit will be attended not only by technology leaders, but
also by leaders of several powerful countries, who are coming to Delhi on the personal
invitation of Prime Minister Modi. These include French President Emmanuel Macron,
UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula
da Silva and Spanish President Pedro Sánchez. Prime Ministers and Presidents of
Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Switzerland and Mauritius will also participate
in the deliberations. Ministerial level delegations and senior UN officials
from more than 45 countries will also be in India during the period.
