        With the new service provided by the Indian Postal Department, the public can now apply for a Postal ID Card at their nearest post offices. This can be applied for district-wise and division-wise. This government-approved ID card can be used as an ID card in various institutions, This card is valid for three years.

What is the new update? – Latest Update Overview

• Now, the facility of applying for a Postal ID Card in person at post offices in cities and villages has been introduced.
• It will act as an official identity document, just like PAN Card, Voter ID, etc.
• Initially, it has been launched in some states; soon it will come across the country.

How to Apply – Step-by-Step Process

1. 1.     Visit the nearest post office

   2.     Obtain and fill the “Postal ID Application Form”

   3.     Attach the required documents:

   ·       Address Proof (Aadhaar, Ration Card)

   ·       Identity Document (PAN, Voter ID)

   ·       Two passport size photographs

   4      Pay the application fee (₹20 to ₹150 depending on the state)

   5      Fee for obtaining the ID card is Rs.250/- depending on the state)

   6      After completion and verification of the application, the ID card will be issued

Those who are moving to a new address can use this ID card to avoid the hassle of changing their new address in various documents.
