If we look at the sky
today, the first thing that appears is the Moon. From children's poems to the
dreams of scientists, the Moon is a strange planet. But how much do we really
know about the Moon? In this post, we will look at the origin of the Moon, its
geology, NASA's past missions, and future plans.
The origin of the Moon – When and how was it born?
The main theory
proposed by scientists: "Giant Impact Hypothesis":  According to this, the Moon was formed by a
large meteorite (Theia) that hit the Earth 4.5 billion years ago. Due to that
impact, rocks were ejected from the Earth's surface and formed the Moon.
Special information: The Moon is the closest
natural satellite to the Earth. Geology of the Moon – Amazing Structure
Geology of the Moon – Amazing Structure :
Surface of the Moon: Maria
– Dark and flat areas. Formed by old volcanic vents,Highlands – high rocky
areas, very old, Impact Craters – large craters formed by impacts. Organizations
like NASA and ISRO have studied these areas and collected a
lot of information.
Previous major lunar
missions by NASA :
| Apollo
  programs (1960s–1970s) | ·       Apollo
11 – 1969: First humans on the moon (Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin) ·       Humans
collected samples of the moon in a total of 6 Apollo missions. |
| Lunar
  Reconnaissance Orbiter (2009) | ·
Mapped the entire moon and helped
  find safe landing areas. |
Future plans – We are
going back to the moon! :
| Artemis
  Program (NASA)
 | ·       The
first all-female, all-people-of-color program to set foot on the moon. ·       The
main objective is to explore the moon’s south pole. |
| Chandrayaan
  (ISRO)
 | ·       Chandrayaan-1:
  India’s first mission to the moon (2008) ·       Chandrayaan-2:
  Orbiter successfully launched (2019) ·       Chandrayaan-3:
Lander successfully landed on the moon in 2023. |
What is on the moon?
| Elements | Present |
| Water
    | As
ice at the south pole |
| Carbon | has
been identified in some areas |
| Recent | Studies
suggest that diamonds may be nano diamonds |
| Helium-3 | Can
be used as a future energy source |
Conclusion :
We would say in poetry
that “the moon should talk to you”. But today we have come to the point of
exploring the moon and unlocking its secrets. What we have learned in this post
is that the moon is not just a glowing white circle – it is a world full of science,
history and future possibilities!
