Bharathi Women's College, Chennai was established in 1964 as a Government Arts College for Women. In 1981-82, during the centenary celebrations of the renowned Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi, the college was renamed as Bharathi Women's College. The college is located on Old Jail Road, Chennai. The current principal of the college is D. Gladys.
Regarding

Tamil Nadu Women's Employment and Security Scheme: This five-year scheme,

students (Classes VIII to XII), an 'Earlypreneurship' programme to teach

Rashtriya
Uchhadhar Kalvi Abhiyan (RUSA): Through this central government scheme, the
college has received financial assistance and has made progress in skill
development activities, technological facilities and improving the quality of
education

MoU with Central
Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET): On 14th February 2024,
a MoU was signed between the college and CIPET: IPT – Chennai. Through this,
students and teachers get benefits in training, placement, consultancy,
research and other educational activities

assistance to female students pursuing higher education:

Stalin launched

Thoothukudi to benefit students across Tamil Nadu. Through this, the number of
women pursuing higher education in Tamil Nadu has increased by 34 percent.
Subsequently, this scheme was expanded to include female students studying in
Tamil medium from 6th to 12th standard in government-aided schools and pursuing
higher education. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M. K. Stalin

launched the Tamil Puduthulvan scheme in Coimbatore on 9th August 2024. The
objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month
to boys who have studied in classes 6 to 12 in government-run schools to
continue their higher education.

crore, Bharathi Girls' College, located on 7.70 acres of land on Prakasam Road,
