Empowerment
Initiatives
v  Abortion Rights in Poland: On International Women's
Day, Polish activists from the Abortion Dream Group opened an abortion center
opposite the parliament in Warsaw. The move challenges Poland's restrictive
abortion laws, aims to decriminalize abortion and provide support to women
seeking medical abortions.
v  Empowering women in agriculture in India: The Indian
government has launched several schemes to empower women in agriculture.
Notably, the 'Namo Drone Didi Scheme' trains women to operate drones for
agricultural purposes and integrates them into modern farming practices. In
addition, the 'Lakpati Didi Scheme' aims to ensure that women in self-help
groups achieve an annual income of at least ₹1 lakh, promoting financial
independence and entrepreneurship among rural women.

v Lauren Price's boxing victory: In a historic night for women's boxing at the Royal Albert Hall, Lauren Price defeated Natasha Jonas to unify the world welterweight title and capture the IBF and WBC belts along with her existing WBA title. Price's superior speed, power and agility saw her outdo the more experienced Jonas, marking a significant milestone in women's sports.
v  Manu Bhaker's sporting feat: Indian shooter Manu
Bhaker became the first Indian to win two medals at the Olympics since India's
independence. Her consistent performance in shooting earned her the Khel Ratna
award in 2025, making her the youngest Indian shooter to receive the honour.
Education
and Career Development
v  Scholarships and Initiatives: Various organisations
have launched scholarships for women's education, especially in STEM fields.
For example, FinTram Global and the All India Management Association (AIMA)
announced scholarships worth ₹1.5 crore for 150 women aspirants, aimed at
improving their employability in the global job market. Similarly, Vivo India’s
‘vivo KanyaGyaan’ initiative provides mentorship, skill development and
industry exposure to young women from marginalized communities to pursue
careers in STEM.
v  Digital and technological empowerment: To bridge the
digital divide, the Government of India has implemented initiatives such as the
Pradhan Mantri Digital Sakshadha Abhiyan (PMGDISHA), which has trained 60
million rural citizens in digital literacy. Additionally, over 67,000 women
entrepreneurs are running Common Service Centres (CSCs), serving as digital
service hubs across the country.
