| Union Budget 2025-2026: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman |
The preparation of the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26 was held from October 10 to November 11, 2024. During this period, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held consultative meetings with several line ministries and various stakeholders. In these meetings, consultations were held on sectors such as civil aviation, petroleum, industry, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME), housing, electronics, rural development, defense, external affairs, corporate affairs, textiles, steel, agriculture, road transport, and railways.
The budget session is scheduled
to begin on January 31, 2025, and continue till February 13. Union Finance
Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present her eighth Union Budget on
February 1, 2025. Since this budget will be the last full budget presented
before the general elections, it is expected to focus more on sectors including
economic growth, agriculture, controlling inflation, and employment.
In the budget preparation
process, the Finance Ministry usually holds consultative meetings with
ministries and departments every year. In these meetings, discussions are held
on the financial needs, priorities, and plans of each department. Based on this,
the union budget is prepared.
