National Games

There are many different sports around the world, each classified based on its own characteristics.  A description of the various game types and some examples of each can be found here.\

1. Team sports

Football: Popular worldwide, it is a game played between two teams of 11 players each.

Basketball: Played between two teams of 5 players each. The goal is to throw the ball into the opponent's basket.

Baseball: Two teams take turns batting and fielding to score runs by hitting the ball.

Cricket: A game played between two teams with a bat and a ball. Very popular in countries like India, Australia, and England.

American Football: Mainly the U.S. includes making plays, gaining yards, and advancing an oblong ball into the opponent's end zone for a score.

Rugby: Similar to American football but with some key differences in rules and gameplay.

2. Racket game

Badminton 

Tennis: played individually or in pairs, played on the opponent's court with the objective of hitting the ball over the net.

Badminton: similar to tennis but played with a shuttlecock instead of a ball.

3. Water sports

Swimming: It includes several categories like freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly.

Water Polo: A team game played with a ball in a swimming pool.

Surfing: riding the surface of water on a surfboard, essentially riding a boat against the waves.

4. Running: middle distance and long distance races.

5. Jumping events: long jump, high jump, pole vault, triple jump.

6. Throwing events: shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, hammer throw.

Boxing: A sport in which two people fight using their fists.

NASCAR: Stock car racing, popular in America.

Ice Hockey: A game played on ice between two teams with the objective of scoring a goal by hitting a puck into the opponent's net.

Skiing: riding a board down snow slopes. There are several types of skiing, such as downhill, cross-country, and freestyle skiing.

10. Gymnastics:

Rhythmic gymnastics: Combines elements of gymnastics and dance with equipment such as ribbons and hoops.

Trampoline: athletes perform aerial stunts while jumping on a trampoline.

Golf: Players use clubs to hit the ball through a series of holes in as few strokes as possible.

Cycling: competitive racing on bicycles, on roads, or tracks.

Triathlon: A multi-sport event that includes swimming, cycling, and running.
